Sean,

I agree wholeheartedly that the game should be decided on the field by the players, not the officials. Their hands are tied by the NCAA Rules Committee, and not one official is on that committee. Oh, there is one to get the verbage correct, and that is the extent of the rules process for officials. That being said, common sense is the key to officiating. The rules were put in place, as you stated, because of the U and their actions. But it trickles down from the NoFunLeague as well. ESPN, Fox Sports, etc. show highlights of someone doing a dance, and it shows up on Saturday, and Friday nights. When a team is getting trounced, it is hard to keep the game in control because of the emotion, and the show boating doesn't help. However, celebrating with your teammates is encouraged in the rules. I believe the best way to act, is first, act like you've been there before; second, it is a TEAM game, and one person cannot be the hero, because 10 other teammates did their job and one gets to shine on a specific play. As each year passes, the NCAA Rules and the NFL rules get closer and closer, and pretty soon, your wish will be granted though. Big money drives the beast, and the beast is forever hungry.

As a side-note, love the show. Peace
